Coronavirus: All you need to know about risks symptoms and cautions

The outbreak of Coronavirus in Wuhan, China has grabbed the attention of the World’s media. Recently China just confirmed that the number of deaths has been increased. The number is now 1000+.

Chinese Authorities have taken some great measures and they are very serious about the Virus and they are working to build a new hospital in less than a week where only affected people will be treated.

What is Coronavirus?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Coronavirus is a family of viruses that can cause illness ranging from common cold problems to server diseases.  Though several coronaviruses have been identified, still some are not recognized. A novel Coronavirus(nCOV) is a new virus that has not been identified previously in humans.

How do Coronaviruses spread?

Coronaviruses transmit from animals to humans. A detailed report shows that SARS coronavirus was transmitted from CIVET cats to humans while MERS Coronavirus was transmitted from dromedary (type of camel) camel to humans.

Several Coronaviruses have been circulating in humans but they have not infected anyone yet.

The word Coronavirus comes from the Latin Word Corona meaning crown or halo. Under an electronic microscope, the image of the virus looks similar to the solar corona.

A novel coronavirus(nCOV) is identified by the Chinese authorities on Jan 7 and named it nCOV.

What are the Symptoms of Coronavirus?

According to WHO, common symptoms of infection include respiratory symptoms, cough, fever, breath shortness and difficulty in breathing.

In a more severe cases, the infection causes pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), kidney failure and even death.

How to prevent infection?

WHO has given some recommendation to prevent infection that includes:

Regular Hand Washing

Covering Mouth and Nose When Coughing and Sneezing

Thoroughly cooking meat and eggs

Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness (such as coughing and sneezing)

How dangerous is Coronavirus?

Some experts say the new type of coronavirus is more dangerous than others. It has killed over 132 people and near 6,000 cases have been confirmed.

SARS coronavirus nearly killed 800 people worldwide during a 2002-2003 and was also originated from China.

Where did the virus come from?

Chinese health authorities are still searching for it to determine the origin of the virus. They say the new coronavirus came from a seafood market in Wuhan where wildlife was also traded illegally.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says animals seem to be the primary source of the virus.

Chinese Scientists said that Snakes (Chines Krait and the Cobra) may be the source of the newly identified virus.

What is being done to stop the virus from spreading?

There is no new vaccine for the newly discovered coronavirus.  Therefore, the authorities are trying their best to save the lives of this dread virus.

State Media said that Chinese authorities have sealed off Wuhan. According to CCTV, it has been told that that action is meant to prevent the virus from spreading and protect the lives.

In Airports, the screening measures have been introduced in all around the World. Some countries are working to evacuate their citizens from Wuhan.
