WhatsApp has officially announced the names of the devices on which it will not work anymore after 1 Feb 2020.
” For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS available for your phone,” WhatsApp said. “We don’t explicitly restrict the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices. However, because these modifications might affect the functionality of your device, we can’t provide support for devices using modified versions of the iPhone’s operating system,” it added.
iPhone users will require IOS 9 or later to continue using WhatsApp while for android the version must be higher than 2.3.7.
There is sad news for Windows Mobile users. The mobile having Windows OS(Operating System) will no longer work with these phones.
Android phones with version 2.3.7 or older will won’t be able to create new accounts or verify existing accounts.
iPhone users now have a solid reason to upgrade the version to IOS 9. Otherwise, they won’t be able to use WhatsApp anymore.
Therefore, I’d suggest you take a backup of your WhatsApp chats and data and store it on Google Drive or wherever you want. Later you can import this backup to get all the data.
